Welcome to Blond Wayfarer’s Monthly News – an assortment of odds and ends relating to travel news, books, highlights, photography, and much more!
My spring break to San Francisco technically took place at the end of March, but I’m including my time in the Bay Area as an April highlight anyway. I LOVED California! It’s amazing how many travel destinations are in my own country, and this trip has inspired me to explore more of the United States.
Another big April highlight happened when I was accepted to BlogHouse Philadelphia! I only live twenty minutes away from the “City of Brotherly Love.” So I thought it was terribly ironic (yes, my inner!literature nerd is in full force) that this workshop was taking place in Philadelphia this year. So I had to apply!
I can’t wait to learn more from the top bloggers in the industry and share all my experiences with you, especially my readers who are “up and coming” bloggers themselves!

What I’m Reading
Smoke Gets In Your Eyes and Other Lessons from the Crematory: A morbid but fascinating read. As an anxious person, I hate thinking about death, but Caitlin Doughty – a young alternative mortician – and her experiences help you embrace mortality. A great read so far.
Station Eleven: I’m a sucker for post-apocalyptic novels and love Station Eleven’s intricate character building! I’m about halfway through this novel. So far, I want to visit both Toronto and Chicago since this story takes place Canada and the Midwestern United States.
Girl on the Train: Cheesy thrillers are a great way to take your mind off work, haha. I found this book a little predictable, honestly, but I loved that it was set in London and train wreck characters always appeal to me. It’s a quick and easy read, too!
April wasn’t exactly a month for life changing news and overall was very quiet for me. Work, sleep, books, food, the usual. However, I purchased a new camera, which is super exciting! I finally settled on a Canon EOS Rebel T5, because I need to stop clinging to the auto settings and learn how to use a DSLR camera to enhance my photography. Any tips are greatly appreciated!
My Upcoming Travel Plans
I don’t have any tickets booked to faraway places at the moment, but I do have a reservation for TBEX in Stockholm. So July may be a month crammed with the sounds, sights, and tastes of Scandinavia. Furthermore, I’m visiting Boston and Salem as part of a school trip, and can’t wait to share my experiences as a traveling teacher with you lovely folks!
How was your April? Share your travels, personal life, photos, anything you want!
