July Highlights

As you already knew from my radio silence, I spent the majority of July traveling throughout Denmark, Sweden, the Baltic States, and Finland. Check out my fantastic itinerary here.

Oh my god, this trip was incredible.

In Stockholm, I had the pleasure of attending TBEX where I learned so much about the travel blogging industry and made connections to other professionals. Of course, I feel overwhelmed, because my blog’s “to do list” tripled, but at the same time, TBEX inspired me to improve in every possible way.

In the Baltic States, I explored each capital city and met some of the coolest people ever. I always read on blogs that many travelers take similar routes, but I never experienced this phenomenon myself. Until I arrived in Vilnius. Having a built-in group of backpacker pals in each city totally made my adventure a million times better.

What I’m Reading

Dude, do you honestly think I’ve had time to read this month? Haha, my mind was filled with hostels, jet lag, sites, conferences, etc. So my reading? Was non-existent. I ought to return my masters degree in literature, and ask for a refund.

However, I want to expand my reading horizons and check out more “entrepreneurial” books after attending Nomadic Matt’s session at TBEX Stockholm. Some new books I’m checking out include “The Power of Persuasion,” “Girl Boss,” “7 Habits of Highly Effective People,” and more!

Of course I value your recommendations, too, and encourage you to leave them in the comments.

Personal News

Right now, I’m trying to take more active steps to defeat my anxiety. Eat better, sleep more, breathing exercises, etc. As for my fear of flying, I forced myself to cut my medicine in half on the 10 hour journey from Helsinki to Philadelphia, and I did exceedingly well! Way better than I thought.

One day I want to fly to New Zealand, as well as soar around the world using no medicine at all, and I think I can accomplish those goals if I put my mind to it.

Leave your own “anxiety defeating” tips in the comments.

Upcoming Travel Plans

Sadly, I won’t move around much in the month of August except for a couple stays at the Jersey Shore. However, I have tons of travel stories to share with you guys, and my brain is already planning epic weekend trips around the eastern coast of the United States. For example, I want to use my United miles to spend 3 or 4 days in Montreal. Which isn’t the United States, but whatever.

And once I know my school breaks? Adventures will be booked, I promise you!

Sounds like a busy, but great, month!

Can’t wait to read more about your trip to the Baltics. We were looking at going there this summer but the cost of flights was prohibitive. It’s still firmly on our list though.

And Montreal! We are going to be there in November. If you beat us there I’ll be on the look out for those posts for sure.

    Stacey —

It was a fantastic month but incredibly busy! I hope you get to the Baltics soon! They’re such amazing countries. I already wanna return to Estonia and Lithuania in particular.

Have a blast in Montreal! I always wanted to visit, so I hope I can squeeze in a quick trip.

TBEX totally triples your to-do list! I’m so glad you had a fabulous time. I’d love to hear more about your book recommendations. 🙂 I did read Girlboss if you want to borrow my copy! I’d be happy to share. Just send me a message on Twitter or shoot me an e-mail!
